Shuttle schedule between Los Angeles Airport (LAX) and Conference Hotel

The shuttle drivers have been asked to display a sign "MAGNONICS".

The conference shuttle rides are free of charge. You do not need to tip the driver. The participants do not need to register for the shuttles. The number of seats was calculated based on the survey with some extra margin.

US visa

If you
cannot use the Visa Waiver Program and need an invitation letter for a US visa, please contact the Conference organizers at magnonics.us@gmail.com as soon as possible. Visa processing times vary by country and may take a long time.

Extra nights

  • The Conference has secured an allotment of extra nights at the Conference hotel, up to 2 days before and 2 days after the Conference. Single occupancy rooms are at $250/night and double occupancy rooms are at $335/night. Each additional adult above the occupancy designation is subject to a charge of $25/night. The California occupancy tax of 13.8% will be added to the accommodation cost.

  • While your stay during the Conference (Sunday July 31 through Thursday August 4; four nights) is reserved and booked by the organizers, participants will need to book the extra nights through the hotel directly. Please contact the Conference organizers (magnonics.us@gmail.com) for instructions on how to reserve extra nights.

  • For transit, there are several other hotels in Oxnard. Moreover, you can book a hotel near the Los Angeles LAX airport (reading hotel reviews is recommended).

Ground transportation

Los Angeles airport (LAX) is 1:30-2:30h drive away from the conference hotel. For international arrivals at LAX, please make sure to take into account time required to go through customs and border control when planning/scheduling ground transportation (from ~1 to 2.5 hours). If you travel as a group, we recommend sharing the ride to reduce the costs. The following options are available:

  • Car rental companies at LAX can be found here. Self-parking at the Conference hotel is available at a discounted rate of $15/night during the Conference dates.

  • Taxis, Lyft, Uber, Opoli can be found via LAX-it & Shuttle at the airport. Please check the prices (and possibly make reservations) in advance. Consider sharing the ride when traveling in a group.

  • Ventura county shuttle commutes between LAX and Four-Point-Sheraton in Ventura, which is an 8 min drive by Taxi/RideShare away from the Conference site. Please check the prices and make reservation in advance.

  • Conference shuttle bus. The Conference will organize a limited number of shuttle bus trips between LAX and the Conference hotel (see the schedule above). This ground transportation option is free of charge. If your flight or border control procedure is delayed, you may miss the bus; please familiarize yourself with alternative transportation options listed above in advance.

COVID

Attendees acknowledge the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk of exposure or infection by attending the Conference. Please be reminded that the COVID situation may change at any time, it is attendees' responsibility to stay informed about COVID regulations and travel restrictions.

As of July 26, the US does not require a negative COVID test from foreign air passengers:

However, you may be required to present recent COVID test results to your airline or to border control for travelling from the Conference. If you need a COVID test before departing from LAX, you may want to consider the following options:

Option 1. Rapid PCR test at Los Angeles Airport (LAX)
Rapid PCR test is available at LAX (

One must register online and schedule an appointment ahead of time https://patientsystem.claritymv.com/login Less expensive options with longer result waiting times are available as well (e.g. $125 with 24 hours waiting time).

Option 2. PCR test in a CVS pharmacy in Oxnard
A COVID PCR test can be taken at a CVS pharmacy in Oxnard (1205 South Oxnard, Oxnard, CA 93030). This pharmacy is 4.6 miles (
10 minute drive) from the Conference hotel. You can schedule the test online ahead of time https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/covid-19-testing/voluntary-testing Please make sure to choose the 1205 South Oxnard, Oxnard, CA 93030 location and a suitable date and time. The cost of this PCR test is $139. Results of the test are typically available in 1-2 days (although CVS does not guarantee this timeline). We suggest to schedule your appointment on Tuesday or Wednesday between noon and 4:30 pm. Please send us an email with your appointment time and we may be able to provide transportation to the testing site.
